A gorgeous book and McQueen's work is some of the most inspiring work in any genre (fashion, art, film) I have ever experienced.

McQueen was an unparalleled genius, and "Savage Beauty" provides wonderful insight into his creativity. wonderful pages showcasing the phenomenal mind of the late fashion designer with 250 colour illustrations to hold the attention of the reader. The catalog--with its gorgeous images placed alongside provocative, incisive, and often puzzling conversational quotes from the designer himself--makes for an interesting way to get a peek at the show for those of us who won't be lucky enough to make it to New York this summer. I would give this book five stars if it contained photographs from the actual installation -- raw concrete stages, aged mirrors, Cabinet of Curiosities room, etc.

The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum’s Alexander McQueen retrospective has proven so popular that the exhibit has been extended until August 7. If you do not know the back story for each collection, you are missing most of the pleasure of understanding his take on the subject, and judging it solely for its appearance.
